What Wyrm is

Wyrm is a native git client built for jujutsu (jj) — a Git-compatible version control system. It speaks ordinary git repositories, so it works with your existing code on GitHub, GitLab, or anywhere else. It just gives you jj’s far better model for working with history on top.

jujutsu is the most interesting thing to happen to version control in a decade. It drops the staging area, the detached HEAD, the stash — the parts that trip everyone up — and replaces them with a handful of ideas that actually hold together. It fixes the hard parts. Wyrm builds the UI that jj deserves: fast, legible, and honest about what’s going on.

The philosophy

Git history is not a problem to be managed. It’s the story of how software became what it is. Wyrm’s job is to make that story legible — and to stay out of your way while you write the next chapter.

And it stays on your machine. Wyrm is local-first: your code and history aren’t uploaded anywhere to make the app work. More on that on the security page.

Independent, on purpose

Wyrm has no VC money, no investors to please and no enterprise roadmap. It is funded entirely by the people who pay for Pro — no ads, no data brokering, no runway burning down to a pivot. That smallness is the point: Wyrm answers to the people who actually use it, and to nobody else.

Who builds it

Andrii Romaniuk

Founder and sole developer

Andrii designs, builds, ships and supports Wyrm on his own, as a sole proprietorship registered in Poland. When you write in, he is the one who reads it.

Credits

Wyrm stands on open-source work, and two projects deserve naming.

Wyrm began as a fork of GG by Thomas Castiglione (gulbanana), a GUI for jj licensed under Apache-2.0. Its source has been modified for use in Wyrm.
Under the hood, Wyrm runs on Jujutsu (jj-lib), by the jj contributors, licensed under Apache-2.0.
