Updates

Wyrm updates itself from inside the app. Every update is signed, and Wyrm checks the signature (and, on macOS, that it comes from the same Apple developer) before installing anything.

By default Wyrm checks once at launch and then once a day. It doesn’t install anything by itself:

  1. Open Settings… (⌘,) → General → Updates. When a new version exists, the group says so.
  2. Click Download update. The Activity panel shows the progress, and macOS shows Wyrm update ready when it’s done (if notifications are allowed).
  3. Click Restart & update.

To check right now, choose Check for Updates… from the Wyrm menu, or click Check now in the Updates group.

Check automatically in the Updates group offers Hourly, Every 6 hours, Daily and Never. Never skips every check, including the one at launch; you can still check by hand.

If a new version doesn’t work for you, the Updates group shows Previous version with a Reinstall … button. Wyrm asks you to confirm, downloads the older signed build, replaces the app and relaunches.

  • The option appears after Wyrm has updated itself from inside the app.
  • Wyrm won’t go back to a version with known security problems. It tells you so and suggests updating to the latest version instead.

If an update fails to start twice in a row, Wyrm opens Update may need attention on the next launch and offers to try the new version again, reinstall the previous one, or check for the latest update.

  • “Automatic updates cannot install while Wyrm runs from here.” You’re running Wyrm straight from the disk image. Click Install to Applications, or quit, drag Wyrm to Applications and start it from there.
  • Update failed: click Try again, or Run network check to test the connection to the update server.
  • You can always update by hand: download the latest build from the download page and replace Wyrm in Applications. Your repositories are not touched.

Quit Wyrm, move it from Applications to the Trash, then install the latest DMG from the download page as described in Installation. Your repositories are not touched. What’s new in each version is in the changelog.
