Built-in Terminal

Wyrm has a terminal built in, docked at the bottom of the window. It runs your own shell, so your tools, aliases and PATH work exactly as they do in Terminal.

  • Press Ctrl+` (the same on macOS, Windows and Linux), or
  • click Terminal in the icon rail on the left.

The terminal shares the bottom area with the log viewer — opening one hides the other. Hiding the terminal does not stop it: your sessions and their scrollback are still there when you bring it back.

Each tab is its own shell session. Use the + button to open a new one.

Action Shortcut
Next / previous tab Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab
Close the current tab Ctrl+W
Move between tabs (tab strip focused) ← / →

Closing Wyrm ends all of its shell sessions.

By default a new tab opens in the root of the repository you are looking at. To always start somewhere else, go to Settings ▸ Terminal ▸ Working directory, choose Fixed path and enter the directory.

Wyrm starts your login shell — on macOS that is usually zsh — so your profile is loaded and tools installed with Homebrew are found. To use a different shell, set Settings ▸ Terminal ▸ Shell binary (and, if needed, Shell arguments, such as -l -i). Custom environment adds variables to new sessions, one KEY=VALUE per line.

Shell, arguments, working directory and environment apply to tabs opened after the change.

Under Settings ▸ Terminal you can change the font size, line height, cursor style and blink, and how many lines of scrollback each tab keeps. These apply immediately.

Color scheme follows the app theme by default. You can also pick a fixed light or dark scheme, or paste a custom xterm theme as JSON.

Turn on Screen-reader mode in Settings ▸ Terminal if you use VoiceOver or another screen reader. It keeps an accessibility tree for the terminal’s contents; leave it off otherwise, since it roughly doubles rendering work.
